CLIMINVEST <\/a>held the session \u201cFrom Policy to Bankability: Financing Climate-Positive Energy Projects for the Energy Union\u201d <\/strong>as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), bringing together more than 100 representatives from the financial, business, technology, and innovation ecosystems to discuss how to improve access to financing for energy transition projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event featured organisations such as Climate KIC, EY, GFT Technologies, Banco Santander, and Miura Partners, along with other key actors from the European ecosystem. All agreed on a common diagnosis: Europe has sufficient financial resources to drive the climate transition, but many projects still do not reach the level of readiness required to attract investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bankability, the major challenge to accelerating the energy transition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the session, it was highlighted that access to financing no longer depends solely on the availability of public or private funds. Projects must demonstrate a strong value proposition, economic viability, sound risk management, and execution capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts noted that improving project readiness level and facilitating connections between promoters, financial institutions, and investors will be key to accelerating sustainable investment deployment in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More capital available, but increasingly demanding investment criteria<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The growth of sustainable finance has been accompanied by higher requirements from banks and investors. Factors such as project maturity, business model robustness, expected impact, regulatory compliance, and early risk identification are now decisive in securing funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artificial intelligence to improve project readiness <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the highlights of the session was the presentation of digital tools developed by CLIMINVEST to strengthen the bankability of climate projects through artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These solutions enable the assessment of a project\u2019s readiness level, analysis of its alignment with sustainability criteria, identification of financing opportunities, and detection of areas for improvement before engaging with financial institutions or investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to help project promoters present stronger proposals, reduce preparation time, and increase their chances of accessing financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A collaboration between finance, technology, and innovation <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The session also pointed out that the energy transition requires greater collaboration between public administrations, financial institutions, investors, and project developers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
